Appointments

Appointments

Our aim is to ensure we provide safe, quality care to all of our patients. We ask that you give as much information as you feel able to, in order to assist the prioritisation of our patients who have the highest clinical need. We offer a varied appointment system and try our best to meet your individual needs.

The best way to get help is to use our online form to request an appointment online. With the information you provide we’ll choose the most suitable doctor, nurse, or health professional to help you.

Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation either by phone or face to face at the surgery.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone or face-to-face
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

GP Extended Hours

The extended Access Service has more appointment with GPs available in Harrogate and Ripon, making it easier to you to get an appointment at a time that suits you including evenings and weekends. Appointments are available

  • Monday – Friday 4pm – 8pm
  • Saturdays 9am – 12 noon
  • Sunday 9am – 11am

Appointments must be booked in advance by contacting your GP practice. You will be seen by experienced GPs and nurses, but it is unlikely that you will be seen by your own GP or nurse. Your medical record will, with your consent, be available to the GP or nurse that sees you, to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care. Notes of your appointment will be sent back to your own GP practice electronically to ensure that your record is up-to-date. An appointment with this service will be just like an appointment at your own GP practice. https://www.yorkshirehealthnetwork.co.uk/

Home visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we’ll do a home visit. All home visit requests will be medically assessed to check if a visit is appropriate. Always provide a current landline/mobile number so that the doctor or nurse can contact you.

If you are poorly and think you need an urgent same day visit, please call us before 11am on the day. Remember: you do not have an automatic right to a home visit. Under their terms of working, GPs are required to consider home visits for medical reasons only.

We have noticed that many patients are requesting visits that are inappropriate or unnecessary. This has a negative impact on other aspects of our service. Calling the doctor out unnecessarily takes the doctor away from patients who may have a greater clinical need. Most of the consultations during home visits could easily and safely be carried out in the surgery.
